An observation of human behavior

The mens bathroom on the top floor of the building that I’m working in is on the east-facing side. It has three stalls - two standard-sized, but one which is very spacious (built with a wheelchair in mind) and has a huge window with better-than-average view out over the freeway right up to the mountains.

Nice place to sit and think for a while. Especially in the late-morning, when the sun is streaming in the window.

I’ve never heard it actually acknowledged, but it’s obvious that the stall in question is far more heavily trafficked than the two other poorer-cousin stalls. In fact, I think I’ve even seen dudes denied from the special stall due to it’s engaged status choose to turn around and come back later rather than using the lower status options that are available.

I’m pretty sure the window is reflective when viewed from the outside. That could be worth checking. I wonder if it’s one of those windows that is reflective during the daytime, but becomes transparent at night-time when the light balance shifts?

OWASP have just released their 2007 version of the Top 10, which details what they see as being the most serious/common web application vulnerabilities at present.

A1 - Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
A2 - Injection Flaws
A3 - Malicious File Execution
A4 - Insecure Direct Object Reference
A5 - Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF)
A6 - Information Leakage and Improper Error Handling
A7 - Broken Authentication and Session Management
A8 - Insecure Cryptographic Storage
A9 - Insecure Communications
A10 - Failure to Restrict URL Access

These are the kind of things I spend many of my work-hours looking at. Fascinating stuff. :)

Ooo, this one is pretty good too..

.. the contents are enjoyable, but I also particularly like the label / bottle.

Slipping in to the Seattle routine. Moved into a condo in Kirkland (over on the east side). Once I unpack properly there might be space on the floor for you to stay when you come visit. I’ll even let you borrow the lightweight-for-tramping three-quarters length Thermarest to sleep on, if you’re lucky. :)

Seeing lots of Hill. Getting in some climbing, indoors and outdoors. Enjoying tomato, basil and mozarella pizza from Wholefoods. Mountain biking (they call the track Tapeworm for a reason). Churching too. Working sometimes, and enjoying weekends.

Sun was setting as I drove home this evening and I could look towards the Kirkland waterfront, over Lake Washington, Seattle, and out to the silhouette of the Olympic Mountains. It’s all good.
